FREE TRAINING EV/AFV Incident Management: Safety and Response Techniques Hosted by the Bungay Fire Brigade As the number of electric vehicles on the roadways increases, it is important for first responders to understand how a response involving these types of vehicles is different than those with an internal combustion engine. This awareness and fundamentals course will introduce first responders to hybrid and electric vehicles, share data and resources, and equip the first responder with the knowledge and tools to respond more safely when a hybrid or electric vehicle is involved in an incident.

Rhode Island First Responders from 12 Communities Attend State Weekend at National Fire Academy July 11-13, 2025 DETAILS
First Responders from Burrillville, Coventry, Exeter, Glocester, Hopkinton, Little Compton, Lincoln, Narragansett, South Kingston, Tiverton, Westerly and T.F. Green Airport attended their State Weekend at the National Fire Academy in Emmitsburg, Maryland.
Students attended 2-day classes in several different areas including topics such as Strategy & Tactics for Company Officers, Wildland Firefighting for Chief Officers, Command & Control for Company Officers, Supervising Emergency Medical Services, Leadership in Supervision: Creating Environments for Professional Growth, and Exercising Leadership Ethically.
Saturday evening a memorial service honoring Rhode Island Line of Duty Deaths (LODDs) was held in the Academy Chapel and concluded at the Memorial with the placement of a wreath accompanied with our State Flag.
First Responders from South Carolina and Massachusetts were also part of the three State Weekend attending classes and honoring their first responders who lost their lives in the line of duty.
Mark your calendars for next year’s State Weekend which will be held July 10-11-12, 2026. A reminder that students MUST have a Real ID or Passport to get on campus with no exceptions.
